Over the years, I've learned that the best measure of a leader isn't what they say when they're asking for your vote. It's who they are long before there is a campaign, a title, or anything to gain. Character is revealed in the work people do when nobody's watching, and that is where I've come to know Betsy.
I've had the privilege of working alongside her in our community, and I've watched her show up again and again. I've watched her ask hard questions, listen when others might have stopped listening, advocate for people who often go unheard, and keep doing the work long after the meetings end and the headlines disappear.
But some of the work that has impressed me most will never make a headline.
I've watched Betsy devote countless hours to mutual aid, helping neighbors, organizing behind the scenes, connecting people with resources, and doing the unglamorous work that most people never see. No applause for much of that work. No campaign photo. No recognition. Just someone who sees a need and decides to do something about it. That matters to me.
Leadership is about what you do when nobody is watching. It's about integrity, courage, accountability, and having enough compassion to care about people whose struggles may never benefit you politically.
In a time when trust in government feels harder to come by, I believe that kind of leadership matters more than ever. I believe Betsy will bring honesty, thoughtfulness, courage, and a genuine heart for service to the Wyoming Legislature. More importantly, I believe she will remember why she went there in the first place: to serve the people who sent her.
I am honored to stand behind Betsy Erickson and give her my wholehearted endorsement.
